INFLUENCE ON HOMES “DEPRESSING BARE WALLS” THE influence of wallpapers on home life was emphasised by Mr. Henry Burn, president of the United States Wallpaper Manufacturers’ Association, in a recent address. “Bare walls are depressing; they stare at you, while wallpaper supplies half the furnishing of a room,” he declared. There was probably no industry which could be made to bear so strong an influence on the community, or that, at so little cost, brought greater pleasure to the eye and so decided an influence upon the home. Wallpaper was decidedly a home proposition. The influence of wallpaper on our homes had in the past undoubtedly been under-estimated, but a moment's reflection must convince any one that it was the most important element, since without wallpaper the room would be barren.
