STORM BREWING

TROUBLE IN EGYPT NOTE TO LORD LLOYD By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright CAIRO, Friday. A political storm, which has been brewing for some time, seems likely to be precipitated by a Note which has been handed to Lord Lloyd, High Commissioner for Egypt, by the Prime Minister, Sarwat Pasha. Sarwat disputes the authority of Lord Lloyd to interfere in army matters. He claims that army reorganisation was not mentioned in the negotiations which resulted in the declaration of Egypt’s independence in 1922. The tone of the newspapers and of Parliament does not encourage the hope of an early settlement.—A. and N.Z.
