Efrem Zimbalist, the celebrated ■ Heist returned to Auckland from Wellington this morning and is staying' ai the Grand Hotel. Mr D O’Connor, who has been on ifi't to Wellington, returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Mr W H. Cowper, of Christchurch, ived in Auckland from the South by 'Limited this morning. The Hon. C. T. Carrington, M.L.C.. left for the South by the Limited last evening- _ Detective -Sergeant J. Bickerdike and detectives Allan, Sinclair, Hunt, and Sneddon have arrived in Auckland for duty. Mr W Grounds, chairman of the rJirv Produce Control Board, is stay?„g at the Star Hotel. The present Government MeteoroloA Mr r>. C. Bates, has been appointed Government Climatologist. The new director of meteorology, Dr. E Kldson. will take up his duties In August. - Among the passengers who left by the Limited express for the South last were the Hon. G. Fowlds, ProSSor W. JUddet. Mr. T. U. Wells, and Mr H M O’Shea, who arc to attend the meeting of the Agricultural ColCouncil which is being held at Palmerston North.
