COUNTRY ROADS MADE IMPASSABLE

RIVERS RISE RAPIDLY The low-lying areas in Edendale were flooded on Saturday, after Friday’s torrential downpour, which also rendered many country roads impassable in the Waikato and King Country. Both the Wanganui and Waikato Rivers are rising rapidly, and it is expected Jhat the areas around Mercer will be flooded shortly. The Te Kuiti-New Plymouth road is already flooded, and slips have rendered the Mamaku Bush Road impassable.
