WORK FOR SOLDIERS
POPPY DAY MONEY CITY COUNCIL’S SUBSIDY Press Association. WELLINGTON, Saturday. The City Council has accepted an offer of £4OO from the Poppy Day funds for the provision of relief works for returned soldiers who are out of regular employment, and this year it has decided to subsidise the amount by 30s in the £, bringing the sum up to £I,OOO. In past years. Poppy Day funds for the relief of unemployment have been subsidised, but not previously to a 30s Sgure. It is understood that the returned men will be given work on the Rongotai sandhill area.
