WORK FOR SOLDIERS
POINT CHEVALIER PARK Work for unemployed returned soldiers will be provided by the layingout of Point Chevalier Park, to the cost of which the R.S.A. and the City Council have agreed to contribute £3OO each. The forming of the footpaths and gardens and the planting of trees are estimated to cost £9OO, and tne work is to be started shortly. The finance and discharged soldiers’ committees of the Auckland Patriotic Association will confer to-day with a view to making a donation of equal value to the R.S.A. The City Council has secured a strip of land from the bluff at the south end of the Beach to Joan Street for the park, and when the improvements are carried out it should be a popular spot.
