CHANGE OF NAME INTERESTING SUGGESTION IVfUCH confusion is occasioned x by the fact that the Eden electorate is nowhere near the Mount Eden district. Many new arrivals in the Mount Eden Borough believe that they are in tho Eden electorate, whereas formerly they were in Roskilt, and now they are in Auckland South. is largely a rural electorate. covering territory round the upper reaches of the Waitemata Harbour. Except that the name sounds nice, there is no reason why it should bear its present title. The Mount Eden district is at present covered by Roskill and Auckland South electorate, but the natural supposition of newcomers to the suburb is that they would be Eden voters. Under the circumstances a change of name seems desirable and It has been suggested that the name of the Eden district should be transferred to Auckland South and a new title coined for Eden. The electoral officers at Auckland state that the present arrangement causes a good deal of confusion among electors
