THE MAGIC BROOM

The Sweeper Man had a beautiful broom with which he swept out the wood each day, but the Green Goblin had no broom to sweep out his house in a tree.

One morning’, while the Sweeper Man was still asleep, the little Green Goblin crept into his house and took the broom. Then he trotted back to his little house, and began to sweep out his room. But no sooner did he begin to sweep than he found he could not stop—the Sweeper Man’s broom swept on, and on, and on, sweeping just wherever it liked.

It swept the food out of the pantry —the bread and meat, the flour and eggs, and the milk; it swept the cups, and saucers and plates out of the cupboard—smashetty - smash, crash-etty-crash they went. It swept the coal out of the scuttle, too! The little Green Goblin’s room was soon in a terrible mess, and still the broom went on sweeping, and sweeping, just wherever it liked.

• All of a sudden a shrill voice sang “Broom! Broom! Good little broom! This is the way to sweep a room!” And there stood the Sweeper Man.

“Oh, Sweeper Man! Sweeper Man! Please tell your broom to stop sweeping!” the little Green Goblin cried “Broom! Broom! Good little broom! Xo longer need you sweep the room!’ And the broom stopped.

Then the Sweeper Man took his broom and went sweeping out the wood, and the little Green Goblin cleared up his room.
