PAYING FOR GOODWILL PRICE RUNS The opinion that, in spite of the provisions of the Act, the council was paying indirectly* for the goodwill of the company was expressed by Cr. J. A. C. Allum when the City Council reviewed the, assessed purchase price to be paid for the Royal Bus Company’s plant. The city’ solicitor advised that the amount of the award was £21,089 9s made up of the total amount assessed less £lB6 8s 2d for interest. The mayor, in answer lo a councillor, said the demand quoted was final. To this amount had to be added costs amoLinting to £250, plus witnesses’ expenses and disbursements.
