NORTHERN PIONEER DIES After having resided in New Zealand for 66 years and having attained her 90th year, Mrs. Mary Ellen Matthews died recently at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. A. Fearniey. of Otahuhu. Born at Greenwich, Airs. Matthews arrived in New Zealand in IS6I with her first husband, the late Air. James Harper, and settled tit After the death of Mr. Harper 48 y ears ago. Mrs. Harper later married Mr. James Matthews and settled at Kaitaia. Left a widow 40 years ago. the late Mrs. Matthews settled at Ponsonby. She is survived by one son. three daughters, 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
