ZIMBALIST

A RETURN CONCERT Good news for music-lovers! Zimbalist, the incomparable violinist, who delighted Auckland audiences last week, is to return here after his Wellington season and will give a farewell concert in the Town Hall next Friday evening prior to departing for Sydney. Concert Tours, Ltd., announce that this will be positively the last appearance of the famous player in the Dominion. Reports from Wellington would indicate that the Zimbalist recitals there have been even more successful than those given here, the second performance attracting an absolutely packed audience. A particularly attractive programme is advertised for the final concert, the piece de resistance being the Glazounov Concerto, which, after being introduced to European and American audiences by Mr. Zimbalist, now ranks as one of the greatest works in the violin literature. There will also be a Handel Sonata, the Bach aria for the G string, Couperin’s “Tambourin’’ and Les Papillons, a “Gavotte” by Goussec, Wieniawski’s Fantasia on Gounod’s “Faust” and Mr. Zimbalist’s own Improvisation on a Japanese tune. Popular prices will be charged and the box plans will be opened at Lewis R. Eady and Sons, Ltd., on Monday morning.
