CHARGE OF PASSING VALUELESS CHEQUE
ST. HELIER’S MAN REMANDED John Barclay, charged this morning with passing a valueless cheque for £ls on Albert William Cotting at St. Heliers on May 24. did not know whether to be tried by the Police Court, or the Supreme Court. “Well, whichever is the best —I don’t know,” he said. On it being explained that the question must be decided by himself and no other, he intimated that he had no desire to worry a judge with his affairs.
Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., remanded him till June 2. “What about bail,” he asked, “can you get it?” “Oh, well, I suppose I could,” replied Barclay, chuckling through his drooping grey moustache, “I’m pretty well known in the district.”
The guarantee of his appearance next Thursday was therefore fixed at £SO.
