Deserted Bride Seeks Her Husband
SEARCH ENDS IN COURT (.Special to THE SUK. ) WANGANUI, To-day. The story of a deserted English bride was told in the Supreme Court yesterday. She was left in London by her husband a week after marriage. The husband told her he was returning to New Zealand, and petitioner came to New Zealand in December last to “clear things up.” The police in Auckland told her to inquire at the New Zealand Perpetual Forests. Limited, and she found her husband working at Putaruru. Later she decided to launch the present proceedings.
His Honour asked counsel how he proposed to get over the provision in the Act which stipulated that residence in New Zealand for two years was required. He, however, recognised that such a provision imposed a hardship in such a case, and a decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute after the expiration of :\?o months.
