PROFIT IN SOAP
LEVER BROTHERS’ RETURNS MILLIONS A YEAR Although Lever Bros., Ltd., the soap combine, made a net profit on last year's operations of practically <£4,900,000, this huge total fell short of the 1925 figure by £600.000. The reduction was evidently due to increased working expenditure, for the directors state that sales of soap were more than maintained. All dividends on the preference and preferred shares are met, but no return can be made on the ordinary capital. The ordinary shares are privately held, and are not quoted on the Stock Exchange.
