NEW SHIPPING COMPANY. is proposed in Canada to start a new shipping company, to be called the "Canadian National Steamships, Ltd.,” to be controlled by the Government through ownership of the stock. A fortnightly passenger service is proposed between Canada and the West Indies, in accordance with the terms of the trade agreement negotiated last year, states “Fairplay.” The line will be under the management of the Canadian National Railways, and it is proposed to start it with five new steamers, in addition to such vessels of the Canadian Government Merchant Marine as can be advantageously fitted for the cold storage trade.
