LORRY SALVAGE!)

HANGING OVER PRECIPICE INSURANCE MONEY SAVED (Special to THE SUN.) TAIHAPE, To-day. A large lorry recently went over a precipice near Taihape, but was held up by a tree from going right down. It was suspended a few feet from the top of the road, yet if it fell it would undoubtedly be completely smashed. The insurance on the vehicle was £SOO, but an effort to salvage it was undertaken by a Wanganui firm, which set out to restore th€> lorry back to active work again. The salvage party took the necessary gear and a man was lowered over the cliff. He encircled the vehicle with stout ropes and by the aid of haulage they managed to succeed in saving the insurance company a “pay out” on the wrecked lorry. The salvage operations only involved the expenditure of £25.
