OFFICIAL QUOTATIONS Under date May 21 the New Zealand High Commissioner in London cables the following official London quotations: — BUTTER The market is firm and prices have advanced as the week progressed. Official quotations, with last week’s prices in parentheses, are as follow: New Zealand.—Finest salted, 162 s to 164 s per cwt.; exceptional, 166 s per cwt., (15Ss to 160 s); unsalted, 172 s to 174 s (164 s to 168 s); other qualities, 154 s to 1565. Australian.—Salted, 160 s to 164 s (156 s to 158 s); unsalted, 164 s to 166 s (160 s to 1645); other qualities, 144 s to 158 s. Argentine.—Unsalted, 156 s to 162 s (153 s to 1565); other qualities, 148 sto 1545. Danish.—l64s (160 s to 1645). Irish Creamery.—l6os per cwt.; unsalted, 1645. Siberian.—ls2s to 156 s (150 s to 1525). CHEESE The market is firm. Official quotations are:— Canadian.—Finest coloured and white, 96s to 98s; exceptional, 100 s (92s to 965); other qualities, 90s to 945. New Zealand.—Coloured, 35s to 87s per cwt., up to SSs (82s to S3s); white, 84s to S6s (82s to' S3s); other qualities, 82s to 84s. Australian.—Coloured, 83s to S4s (SOs to to 81s); white, 82s to 83s (79s to Sis); other qualities, 7Ss to S2s. Shipments of New Zealand produce arrived this week per the Hororata, Tamaroa and Maimoa. FRUIT The fruit trade is steady. The Tamaroa, Maimoa and Hororata are discharging apples. Their condition is good so far, except for some waste in London pippins. The following prices were realised for apples (per case): —Cleopatra, 17s to 18s; Jonathan, 14s to 17s; Statesman, Delicious, Dunn’s, Favourite, and Roman Beauty, 14s to 16s; London Pippin and King David, 14s to 15s; Otago apples, Cox’s Orange, 30s to 40s; Worcester Pearmain, 15s to 16s; Jonathan, 16s. Pears realised the following prices (per crate):—Comice (few), 425; Josephine and Winter Nelis. 19s 6d to 22s 6d: Winter Cole and P. Barry, 13s 6d to 16s 6d; Keiffers and Vicar of Winkfield, 9s to 12s. WOOL The Bradford market is steady, but not sufficient new business to seriously test values. Present quotations are:— 64’s (Merino), warp, 4s per lb.; 56’s (super halfbred), 2s lOd; 50’s (halfbred), 2s 2d; 40’s, prepared, Is 71d.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited advise receipt of a cable from their London principals, Messrs. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated 20th inst., reading as follows: Danish butter, 1645; New Zealand unsalted butter, 172 s to 1745; New Zealand salted butter, 162 sto 1665; market firm. New Zealand cheese, white, 84s to S6s; coloured, 85s to 88s; market firm. Canadian cheese, white and coloured, 96s to 100 s.
