ONEHUNGA FINANCES
ESTIMATES FOR YEAR Estimates of receipts and expenditure for the ensuing 12 months were presented to the Onehunga Borough Council last evening by the Mayor, Mr. W. C. Coldicutt. Items on the expenditude side included:—lnterest and sinking fund, £16,340; street maintenance, £7,000: street lighting, £1,500; waterworks, £5,438; hospital, £2,820; salaries, £2,355; fire board, £BOO, and library £412. On the revenue side, it is estimated that sums to be realised would be: Genral rate, lid. in the £1 on unimproved values, £5,846; in addition to which there would be a hospital rate of 21-32 d, library rate 3-32 d, lighting rate 11-32 d, loan rate 2 7-Bd, and water rate id. Other estimates of revenue were: Water, £6,000; vehicle licences, £2,000; refuse collection fees, £1,200; Hillsborough cemetery, £2,450; Waikaraka cemetery, £250; and quarry receipts, £2OO. The total estimated revenue is placed at £43,577, as against £40,433 last year. No comment was made upon the sheet submitted.
