HIS MAJESTY'S
“MEET THE WIFE”—AND LAUGH!
There are occasions in the fast-run-ning comedy, “Meet the Wife,” at His Majesty’s Theatre, when only the quickest ears can catch the smart repartee which makes the play a popular success. This encourages alert attention on the part of the audience, and increases merriment when the cute American wit has been caught. Sometimes, however, those who do not hear everything wish that some of the best players would not emulate lightning all the time. The comedy makes a joke of bigamy as a product of the great earthquake at San Francisco, combined with the belated courage of a suffering man who refused to believe that “the husband of a talkative wife shall have a great reward hereafter.” As the wife who could be happy with either, Miss Marion Lord was the brightest star in the merry firmament. She was supported ably by Miss Auchiffred, Mr. J. B. Rowe and Mr. William Macaulay. “Meet the Wife” will again provide happy entertainment this evening.
