THE SUN is offering cash prizes of £lO and £5 respectively for the best models of “Old Ironsides” of the period of 1800. The contest in now rnnning in co-operation with the Paramount Picture “Old Ironsides,” soon to be released.

Building a model of “Old Ironsides” should give one a few hours of great enjoyment as toy boat-building is a popular hobby among boys of all ages. The cutting of the hull, fitting of the deck hatches and spars and rigging of the sails all tend to excite greater interest in the contest. The models will be judged on their appearance and detail. “Old Ironsides” was the name given a sailing frigate which set out to rid the Mediterrnean of the pirates who menaced its freedom about 1800. The story of “Old Ironsides” is told in the Paramount Picture of that name.

Wallace Berry, George Bancroft, Charles Farrell and Esther Ralston head a cast of thousands in this epic of the sea. Wallace Beery, who will be remembered for his splendid comedy work in “Behind the Front” and ‘We’re in the Navy Now,” has the

role of his career in the comedy dramatic part of the “Bo’sun,” George Bancroft being his team mate in most of the comedy scenes, while Charles Farrell and Esther Ralston supply the romantic love interest. “Old Ironsides” is a Paramount Road Show Picture, produced on the same magnificent scale and with the greatest attention to detail as were Paramount Road Show’s of the past such as “The Covered Waggon,” “The Ten Commandments,” “The Vanishing Race” and “Beau Geste.” The competition is open to boys up to 16 years of age. Model builders are Invited to apply to “Old Ironsides” Contest Editor, THE SUN, for further information about the ship.
