RIVER TRANSPORT TARIFF ANOMALIES

CAN OF MILK COSTS AS MUCH AS BALE OF WOOL

(Special to THE SUN.) WANGANUI, To-day.

Freights on the railways are not the only tariffs subject to criticism. An anomaly was pointed out at a meeting of the River Trust yesterday. It was stated that the river rate charged for a valuable bale of wool was 4d, while for a milk can the rate was 6d.

The chairman thought revision was necessary and it was decided to refer the matter to a special committee for consideration.
