BURGLARS INTERRUPTED AT WHANGAREI

GOOD HAUL MISSED WHANGAREI, To-day. A burglary was attempted last night on the premises of Mr. A. J. Preebes, a large tobacconist in Cameron Street. Three large augur holes were bored in the back door, but the thieves were evidently disturbed, probably by the night watchman, before gaining an entrance. The chance of a large haul -was missed, as heavy week-end takings were left in the till. The matter is in the hands of the police, and investigations are proceeding.
