KAURI GUM MARKETS

LITTLE MOVEMENT Little movement of any import has been registered in the kauri gum market during the past fortnight. Local supplies of several lines are becoming low. Especially is this the case with good B 2 and dry clean swamp. There are considerable quantities of these lines available, but the quality is too poor for present requirements. Production for April was 317 tons, but figures for the present month up to May 21 were only 168 tons. The Raranga for the United Kingdom lifted a fair cargo early in the month and the Norfolk, loading to-day, takes a considerable number of packages for New York and the United Kingdom. White gums are still neglected, though it is reported that purchases have been made lately to fill Russian requirements.
