League Footballers Granted Clearance
CITY CLUB APPROVES BROWN AND DAVIDSON A S far as the City League Football Club is concerned, it will place no obstacles in the way of the transfer of two of its players, Lou Brown and Ben Davidson, to the Wigan Club in England. This decision has been arrived at as a result of a meeting of thfe senior members of the club, at which both Brown and Davidson were present. Both players stated that they proposed to stay two years in England. “Auckland’s loss of two of its best backs will be amply compensated for on their return to New Zealand, both as players and coaches,” states Mr. C. W. Waugh, president of the City Club.
It was made clear that no transfer fee would be paid to the two players, who propose to leave for England early in July. The City Club is advising the New Zealand Council, through the Auckland Rugby League, that it approves of an open clearance being granted.
