WHO ARE THE MINISTERS?
Sir, — I was interested to see in your report of Canon James’s sermon of last Sunday night that he stated the Religious Exercises in Schools Bill was supported by nine out of eleven Cabinet Ministers, including the Minister of Education, and by a majority of the members of the House of Representatives. I, and many others, voted for the Reform candidates who comprise the Cabinet and the majority in the Lower House, on account of the fact that the 1925 party platform pledged itself to support, among other things, the maintenance of our present system of education —free, secular and compulsory. The Bill proposed is a direct denial of this. Will Canon James disclose the names of his Cabinet supporters, in fairness to their colleagues who remain true to the party pledges upon which they were elected? J. F. TEMPLE.
