AUCKLAND RIDER’S SUCCESS
ON WEST COAST CIRCUIT ORANGE MAKES FRIENDS R. B. Orange, the well-known Auckland horseman, has returned from a visit to the West Coast of the South Island, where he met with a good measure of success in the saddle. Orange, who was present at the Blenheim autumn meeting, which was held prior to the West Coast circuit, rode the Creymoutli-owned Corn Rigs to victory, the gelding paying a good price. ERIN-GO-BRAGH So impressed was owner Mr. F. Turley with the manner Orange handled the big son of Markhope, he arranged with the Remuera lad to go to the Coast and ride his new purchase Erin-go-Bragh, on whom he scored four wins. Orange was also first past the post with Corn Rigs, Rapid Fire, and Dan Quin, and during his tour of the Northern portion of the 'South Island the Aucklander rode nine winners, including a dead-heat. COAST HOSPITALITY The returned horseman speaks in glowing terms of the treatment received at the hands of the sporting enthusiasts of the picturesque Coast, and was greatly impressed with the hospitality of Coasters generally. MAY VISIT DUNEDIN Mr. Turley intends racing Erin-go-Bragh at Dunedin next month, and has asked Orange to go South to ride the son of Lord Multifid and Algar in his engagements, but he is undecided whether to accept the offer or remain at Ellerslie.
