A NOTABLE PURCHASE
BULL FOR AUSTRALIA TO HEAD LEADING HERD Destined to lead the greatest producing herd in Australia Finvoy Golden ..oble, one of the junior herd sires in Mr. W. H. Miers’ noted Almadale herd at Rotorua, Waikato, has recently been purchased by the Ne wSouth Wales Government. The deal was noegiated by Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. Finvoy Golden Noble is a bull of unusual merit, and will undoubtedly prove to be a fine advertisement in Australia, for the Dominion’s Jerseys. Bred in the Manawatu by Mr. A. Smith, he is the bull which won the grand championship at the Manawatu show and sale last spring, under the judgment of Mr. Thomas Church, Te Rapa. He was then purchased at a high figure for the Westmere Jersey stud of Mrs. B. Donald, and in that herd was mated with some of the best bred heifers in the Dominion, a majority of which were sired by a son of Lady Peggy (7261 b butterfat). Finvoy Golden Noble in addition to being a bull of classical conformation, is also exceptionally well supported with butterfat production records. His dam. Miss Ivy, is the highest producing daughter of the imported sire, Molina’s General with a record as a five-year-old of 10,855.61 b milk, and 727.621 b butterfat.
He will head the greatest producing Jersey herd in Australia, that maintained by the Government of New South AVales at Hawkesbury College, where there are now a dozen cows that have produced from 7001 b. butter fa* upwards. Finvoy Golden Noble is brcfi on lines consistent with the idertl aimed at in this great heard—high production combined with beautiful tvjpe.
