On the Brink of Disaster
GEAR-BOX SAVES CAR FROM FALLING OVER CLIFF (From Our Own Correspondent .) OPOTIKI, To-day. Passengers in a fully-loaded Aard service car had a remarkable escape on the road between Motu and Opotiki yesterday. The car, which was travelling from Gisborne, met another car on a narrow portion of the road and a collision occurred. The front wheels of the service car were forced over a bank and only ror the fact of the gearbox catching on the edge of the road saved the car from telling over a cliff.
Fortunately no one was injured and tne cars sustained very little damage. The service car eventually got back °n to the road and was able to proceed to Opotiki.
