Victorian Cabinet. —The members of Mr. E. J. Hogan’s Ministry were sworn in yesterday and the first meeting of Cabinet was held subsequently.

Comtesse de Janze Goes Free.—The Comtesse de Janze. who shot Mr. Humphry de Trafford and herslef in a Paris railway station, has been released. Mr. de Trafford refused to prosecute her.

Diphtheria Epidemic. —A report to the Tauranga Hospital Board on Friday stated that the diphtheria epidemic among children in the district was abating.

Avondale Streets.—lt is suggesetd that Taylor Street and Manukau Road in Avondale South be put down in concrete, but the carrying out of the work will depend upon the reception of loan proposals by the ratepayers.

Attempted Suicide Charge.— A man of 34 who was charged at the Police Court this morning with .attempting suicide was remanded for a week for medical observation. His name was ordered to be suppressed- in the meantime.
