RETURNING TO AUCKLANp
One of the most popular artists that have visited New Zealand is Nellie Bramley, and the announcement that
the comedy company of which she is the star is to commence a season of 13 nights at His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday, May 28 will be good news No fewer than five pieces are to be staged during their sojourn in Auckland. These include “Paddy the Next Best Thing,” “Baby Mine,” “Fair and
Warmer,” “A Little Bit of Fluff,” and “Peg o’ My Heart.” A favourite wherever and whenever produced, “Paddy, the Next Best Thing,” is a comedy of rare human interest, in which Miss Bramley takes the role of Paddy, one of General Adair's daughters, her interpretation of it being acclaimed by the critics throughout Australasia. Paddy is, in fact, one of the star’s favourite parts. Supporting her \vill be a strong aggregation of talent, including a number of artists quite new to Auckland. Among these are Mr.
Brett Randall, Miss Mabel Gower, and Miss Eve Downey, ail of whom have
gained reputations abroad, and several old favourites, including Mr. George Hewlitt, Miss Millie Carlton, Miss Marie d’Alton, Mr. John Galway, and Mr. Robert Purdie. Porfular prices will be charged, and the box plans for the season will open at Lewis R. Eady and Son, Ltd., on Thursday, May 26.
