DEFENCE POSTINGS
FIGURES FOR DISTRICT A total of 906 cadets in the No. 1 Regimental District, which includes Auckland city and suburbs, have been posted to the territorials this year. That total is a few hundred less than the number posted last year. The standard of fitness, say the authorities, is fair, some youths being of outstanding fitness though others lack physical training. Cadets to the number of 143 were classed as permanently unfit, and 96 were classed temporarily unfit, and will come up for inspection again next year. The details of cadets posted to the territorials are as follow: First Battalion Auckland Infantry Regiment. 264; Field Artillery. 165; Garrison Artillery. 114: Northern Depot Engineers, 118; Northern Depot Signal Corps, 40; Northern Depot Army Service Corps, 103; Northern Depot Medical Corps, 102. Territorials posted to the reserve numbered 1171. They come from the following units: First Battalion Auckland Regiment, •38; Field Artillery, 200; Garrison Ar’llery, 145; Signal Corps, 44: Army Service Corps, 74; Medical Corps, 75: Engineers, 95.
