N.Z. CROSS COUNTRY CONTEST ON JULY 2
TO BE HELD IN CANTERBURY DOINGS IN AUCKLAND The Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association announces that it has decided to hold the New Zealand cross-country championship over the Cashmere course on July 2, as this will give the New Zealand Council plenty of time to choose the Dominion team for the Australian and New Zealand cross-country championship, which is to be held in Adelaide on August 6. This does not give the Auckland club very much time to get its team into tip-top condition for the 6J miles* contest. The Auckland Club’s programme for to-morrow includes a third steeplechase to be decided over a four-mile course, commencing at Mr. Scown's farm, near Mangere. In addition to the cross-country run there will be a 75 yards’ handicap, field events, and a 75 yards’ ladies’ handicap will be contested.
Later the club will hold winter competitions at Pukekohe, Onehunga. Avondale and other places, including some of the football grounds, and the Domain.
