ROYAL BUS COMPANY AWARDED £21,275
ACTION SETTLED SALE TO CITY COUNCIL The action between the Royal Motor Bus Company and the Auckland City Council to determine the amount to be paid for the taking over of the plaintiff company’s fleet of buses concluded this morning, when the judgment of Mr. Justice Stringer and two assessors, the Hon. E. W. Alison and Mr. G. R. Hutchinson, was announced. The company is awarded the sum of £21,275 17s 2d, the decision, in effect being a splitting of the difference between the two parties. Costs to the extent of £250 and witnesses expenses and disbursements were allowed claimant, each side to pay its own assessors. Interest from the date the buses were taken over (October 26, 1926) until the date of the award, was also allowed. Mr. V. R. Meredith appeared for the plaintiff company, and Mr. J. Stanton for the City Council.
