PLANES CRASH AFTER ROYAL SALUTE
THE MELBOURNE TRAGEDY MACHINES IN GOOD ORDER By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright MELBOURNE, Thursday. An inquest was held to-day concerning the deaths of the four victims of the double air crash in Melbourne on April 21. The evidence showed that the airmen in the two machines involved in the tragedy were giving the salute to the Duke and Duchess of York by dipping their planes, when one touched the other. Both planes then crashed. It was stated that each machine had been thoroughly inspected on the morning of the flight. An Air Force officer said that since the tragedy arrangements had been completed for the equipment of every machine -with parachutes. A verdict of accidental death was returned. —A. and N.Z.
