THE WELFARE OF WAGE-WORKERS

TRADES UNIONS MAY CONFER ALLIANCE OF LABOUR MOVES All the trades unions in the Northern Industrial District may shortly be called to a conference to discuss the welfare of trade unionists and wageworkers generally. The proposal was discussed at the meeting of the Alliance of Labour District Council last evening. The council, which represents a merger of the Alliance of Labour and the Trades and Labour Council, will make a decision at its next meeting in a month’s time. The questions were discussed of getting all organised labour into the appropriate unions and organising all wage workers at present unorganised. The meeting also recommended that the question of an interchangeable union ticket giving entry into all unions should also be discussed.
