CAN NORTH SHORE?

TO-MORROW’S STAR RUGBY GAME

ATTRACTIVE FIXTURES AT EDEN PARK

TO-MORROW'S Rugby catalogue presents attractive features. Only six senior teams will be seen in action, but this season the clubs are so evenly matched that anything may happen, and in two Saturdays the whole aspect of the points table could be changed. Training College and University will not be seen out tomorrow, as Training College are on holiday, and University agreed to postpone the encounter.

To be perfectly candid. Varsity willingly agreed to the postponement, as the absence of A. H. Keane through injuries, and of five other capable players with the University team in Australia, has left them desperately short-handed. Last Saturday they had difficulty in mustering a team, and their defeat at the hands of College Rifles was not surprising. Under the circumstances, the students are not looking forward to the meeting with Ponsonby the following Saturday. GRAMMAR AND MARISTS Meeting Marists, Grammar Old Boys will be up against a team playing much their own type of football. The Grammar forwards should be superior in the loose if they maintain the form disclosed last Saturday, but Marists are likely to get possession in the scrums. Grafton meet College Rifles, and on

>uld win. It is here, however, that a surprise may be effected. The line of College Rifles’ backs is brilliant, with Barclay and Johnston now showing international class, but the forwards have not yet shown that they are an effective screen. Again, whatever the results, the

scores are likely to be desperately close. There will be little, on a territorial division, between any of the teams, but a daring tipster might predict successes for North Shore, Grammar, and Grafton. NORTH SHORE’S CHANCE North Shore have a great chance to achieve fame to-morrow. From B grade the Shore fifteen has risen to a prominent place in the A grade, and its recent performances have been convincing. The forwards are a lusty lot, and when the team meets Ponsonby to-morrow they may worry the Fourth A Grade W.Y.M.l. —King, Collier, Dempsey, Allen, H. Chapman, Harris, Hodgkinson, Mack, F. opposition and weigh the scale in their side’s favour. Much will depend, however, on the stiffness of the Shore backs. Their task will be to anchor the Ponsonby fliers.
