WAS MRS. BONATI MURDERED?
NEW THEORY ADVANCED SCOTLAND YARD PUZZLED By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright i Reed. 11.15 a.m. LONDON, Wed. Scotland Yard's inquiries into the \ Mrs. Bonati mystery have covered an j extraordinarily wide range upon which the best detectives have been engaged. Yet they are no nearer the identi- 1 fication of the murderer than on the 1 day on which the trunk was dis- ! covered. / j Many preconceived ideas have been I upset by Sir Bernard Spilsburv, who j advanced an unexpected theory at the ; Police Conference to the effect that ! Mrs. Bonati was not murdered but was ! 'killed by a fall down stairs in which ! head injuries were inflicted. Another theory is that after falling she lay face downwards on a mat, j causing suffocation. In support of this I it is assumed that the fall occurred j in the house of a criminal who, fear- | ing blame, therefore dismembered the j body and placed it in a trunk. It does not necessarily follow that this theory is accepted by the police, but in view of Sir Bernard Spilsbury’s j eminence they are now prosecuting in- j quiries in this direction.—A. and N.Z.
