OPPOSITION FOR FRENCH TARIFF INCREASE
BILL NOT TO BE RUSHED DEPUTIES CONSIDERING By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright PARIS, Wednesday. The French Government is alarmed at the opposition to its new Tariff Bill, which in most cases increases the Customs duties on 8,000 articles, and it is temporising. The Minister of Commerce, M. Bokanowslti, who is in charge of the Bill, is going to Spain. Meanwhile the Deputies will be afforded the opportunity of considering the clauses at their leisure. It was the Government’s original intention to rush the Bill into law early in June. The newspapers publish lists showing how the changes will further increase the cost of living.—A. and N.Z.
