Good Health Prevails. —Nothing in the form of infectious disease has be *n ported in Avondale for two months. Thrown from Horse. —James A. Campbell, aged 45, was thrown from his horse, and taken to hospit.-»l seriously injured, says a Dunedin Press Association message. Building Progress.—The building inspector’s report presented to the Avondale Borough Council last night showed that 18 dwellings and six additions were in course of erection, and il new permits had been issued. Railway Abandoned. —A deputation to the Prime Minister at Ruawai yesterday expressed willingness to abandon their railway project in favour of the Ruawai-Paparoa Road being made suitable for heavy traffic. Mr. Coates expressed pleasure and promised inAvondale Drainage.—The engineer of the Avondale Borough Council reports that good progress is being made with the laying of sewers in No. 2 reticulation area, the total length being 4,858 feet. Work on the main sewer extension had resulted in 200 feet of 18-inch sewer being laid. Difficult to Wash.—“l had a bath last Monday, but I do not know when I will get another,” was the remark of a member of a deputation that waited on the Devonport Council last evening complaining of the trickles of water that are supplied in some areas, owing to the blocking up of water mains.
