WANGANUI MAYOR ATTACKS BANK
POWERFUL TRUST HAS US BY THE THROAT
(Special to THE SUN.) WANGANUI, To-day
The mayor, Mr. W. J. Rogers, attacked the associated banks last night at the City Council meeting. "The most powerful trust in the Dominion has us by the throat,” he said. He moved that the council should voice a protest against the action of the banks raising the rate of interest and support the Chamber of Commerce in its action. One councillor said that all were struggling with difficulties and were not in a condition to accept the bank’s action lying down. The motion was carried.
