Under the Totem-Pole Chiefs and Braves
Letters to Redfeather are answered as under:
Sickle Moon: Very many thanks for your letter, my good Guide-Brave. Eyes of the Morning has a good understudy and I shall be eager to hear of your investiture as Second Patrol Leader. What a very busy time you are having, but not too busy I see to remember the Pen-name competition. Every good wish.
Star on the River: I was delighted to hear from you again and have used extracts of your thoughtful letter in the Guides’ Corner. I am anxiously waiting to hear if your essay published in the Wigwam page has won for you your Writer’s Badge. “Under the Totem-Pole” is to me a very interesting place also. Thank you very much for your entries for the competitions. Grey Wolf: A warm welcome to this Patrol Leader. You belong to a very progressive troop of Scouts and I shall follow your doings with interest. It is with the greatest pleasure that 1 give you the hand of greeting at the door of the Wigwam.
Stout Heart: I shall be delighted to have your contribution and hope it will reach the Wigwam at an early date Your name fits you perfectly. Silver Ripple: I was so glad to have your letter and to know that you are such a keen reader of our Open-air Page. Your duties as Patrol Leader
must keep you very much occupied, especially as you attend technical college too. I shall be pleased to have your account of the Guide camp. Thank you also for the fine list of pennames. Glistening Water: Welcome to this Girl Guide. Which company do yon
belong: to? I am so glad that you have been watching for the Wigwam page from the very first issue. I have some splendid young Braves among you.
Little Buffalo: Your Great Chief was pleased to have your letter and can clearly picture the beauty and freedom of your surroundings. You will soon be an expert in bush lore and a very sure marksman.
Silver Wing: Your letter has reached me, little faithful one. Something seems to tell me that you will never forsake the Wigwam. Is the sun peeping through the clouds again?
Little Feather: Your fine essay and list of Pen-names reached the Wigwam safely. What a loyal young supporter I have in this little Guide-Brave. Several Pen-names coincide with those Already on hand, but as this is accidental, it will not cause them to lose marks in the competition. The lists will be judged on their general merit. Big Brown Bear: I hope you are taking good care of yourself. The days seem to lack something when no tidings of this good Scout-Chief reach the Wigwam.
Eagle Feather: I had a big smile over your last letter with its cheerful headlines. I hope the dance went off successfully.
Eyes of the Morning: I shall be looking forward to the day when I have your letter to say that you are up and about again. I hope this bright sunshine is streaming in at your window.
Way of the Wind: I was so glad to have your letter. Thank you also for the prints. Some of them should reproduce very well. What a very neat scribe you are.
Crested Wave: Very many thanks for the essay and Pen-names. I am so glad to have you for one of my good Braves and feel sure that you are going to be one of the very faithful ones. Smoke Plume: I am glad that this Second Patrol Leader has come to the Wigwam. It is a pleasure to know that I now have three supporters in your family. All good wishes. Red Star: Very many thanks for your fine letter and the list of Pennames. It is always a red-letter day when I hear from this little lone Guide-Brave.
Beaver Hunter: Your splendid article appears in another column. Many thanks also for your competition entries. I can foresee a bright future for the pen of this Scout-Chief. Little Trap Setter: Your cheery note has reached me safely. What are you trapping now, I wonder—the beasts of the field or the birds of the air?
Blue Morning: I am delighted that you have come to the Wigwam and have placed your order for Wednesday’s paper. You will be able to compare notes with Eagle Feather. All good wishes.
