MODERN WOOL STORE

FINE STRUCTURE NEARS COMPLETION Combining- attractive appearance with modern principles of space and lighting the new stores of Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., being constructed at the corner of St. George’s Bay Road and Farnham Street will be a notable addition to the commercial buildings of the city. As may be seen in the reproduction, the building is three storeys high. The ground storey is of ferro-concrete and the two upper*ones of brick. The

structure of which the stanchions and beams are steel, will be completed about the end of July. The three floors will give 55,000 square feet of space. The ground floor is to be used for the storage of artificial manures, the second for grain and the third, which will be lit with southern lights for the storage of wool and also for wool-classing. There are four cart docks, three facing St. George’s Bay Road and opening to the ground floor and one in Farnham Street, giving access to the first floor. Chutes, electric conveyers and elevators for goods and for passengers will be installed. The roof will be of steel principals with corrugated asbestos sheeting. The architects are Chilwell and Trevithick and the builder Mr. R. A. Cornish.
