HEAVY FIGHTING IN HONAN

CHIANG HEAVILY ENGAGED MAKES LITTLE PROGRESS By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright Reed. 12.30 p.m. SHANGHAI, Tuesday. Heavy fighting continues in Honan. The Hankow Government forces and the Northern Allies have made no appreciable difference to the situation. The wealthy Chinese in Hankow are sheltering in the remaining foreign concessions and sending their families to Shanghai. Lower down the stream, where Marshal Chiang Kai Shek is engaged with a mixed Northern force, the British wireless reports that the situation is not favouring Chiang Kai Shek. —A. and N.Z.-Sun.
