The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Vlth went to Kawakawa to-day, and will return to Auckland-on Friday. Charles Skerrett, Chief Justice, c a arrived in Auckland Horn Rotorua, „A is staying at the Grand Hotel. He , to preside over the sittings of the Supreme Court, till the end of the session. g H. McCullough, of Ardmore, returned to Auckland to-day by the UHmaroa from Sydney. Mr C G. Brooks returned to Auckland to-day by the Ulimaroa after paying a holiday visit to Sydney. Mr J- C. Newton was an arrival by the Uliniaroa from Sydney in Auckland this morning. Sir John Luke and Mr. W. S. Glenn, MP who have been visiting Auckland, left for Wellington by train last night. Air M. C. Franklin, of Auckland University College, has been awarded the Lubecki scholarship in science for this year.
Mr. Frank B. Spencer, manager for Australasia of the Nestle and AngloSwiss Condensed Milk Co., Ltd., is at present on a visit to Auckland. -
Mr. W. H. MoEntee, of Papakura, who has been on a holiday trip to Australia, returned to Auckland to-day by the Ulimaroa.
Mrs. R. F. Bollard was a passenger on the Limited from Wellington this morning. She left the train at Frankton Junction.
During the absence of Mr. W. P. Gauvain, Mr. S. I. Crookes has been appointed to the board of co-examiners of the School of Engineering, Auckland University College.
Mr. E. D. McLennan. M.P., who has been payins a six weeks’ holiday visit to Australia, returned to Auckland today by the Ulimaroa. Mr. McLennan visited both Sydney and Melbourne, but was unable to partake in the Canberra festivities.
Mr. E. S. Brittenden, of the headquarters of the Railway Department, Wellington, returned to Auckland thib morning by the Ulimaroa from Sydney. He has been in Australia on railway business.
Among the passengers from Wellington by the Tainui for England on Tuesday was Mr. L. H. Warner, together with his wife and family. Mr. Warner was for some years on the Auckland staff of J. Ilott, Ltd., advertising agents, and after spending a period at the firm’s head office in Wellington, has now been transferred to its London branch.
