NATIVES AND TIMBER COMPANY CONFER
DELAY IN BUILDING TONGARIRO RAILWAY CAUSES DISCONTENT (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, To-day. An important conference took place at Kakahi yesterday, between representatives of the Tongariro Timber Company and the native land-holders. The latter have expressed a great deal of dissatisfaction lately regarding the company’s attitude, and the delay in building the Tongariro railway, and it is believed an attempt will be made to force the company to speed up the proposal. The building of this line will open up a very important link, and give an outlet for large quantities of produce and timber.
