SAVED BY HIS DOGS
FARMER’S FIGHT WITH LEOPARD A young farmer in the Messina district. Transvaal, was nearly killed in a fierce struggle with a leopard. His life was saved by his dogs. Thinking that the dogs had cornered a pig, he went to the spot with a rifle with only one cartridge. A leopard jumped from a tree and bit him in several places. He fired, but missed, and the leopard attacked him again and bit him on the head. The dogs joined in the fight, and, after two of them had been killed, finally drove the beast off.
