NO LONGER WITH THE POLICE FORCE
AUCKLAND DETECTIVE COMMISSIONER’S STATEMENT (From Our Resident Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, To-day. the Commissioner of Police, Mr. W. B. Mcllveney, stated that Detective Lambert, of Auckland, was no longer a member of the Police Force. As announced some weeks ago, he was suspended from duty following incidents at Devonport. He ceased duty as a member of the force on Saturday, May 14. An inquiry was held at Auckland into the incident or incidents, which led to complaints being made. The finding was forwarded to the Commissioner, with the result announced above.
The Commissioner, in answer to THE SUN representative, would not discuss the Lambert case in view of the still unsettled action against himself which is being taken by a Christchurch constable whose dismissal he announced.
