Police Locate Man Wanted in Victoria
ARREST AT WHANGAREI TWO-YEAR-OLD THEFT CHARGE It is a far call from O’Grady’s Ridge—an out-back district tucked away among the big gum trees near the bush township of Foster, in Gippsland, Victoria—to Whangarei. Remote as O’Grady’s Ridge may be, the blue-serge-sleeve of the law has at last stretched out over the Tasman, and located Peter Bruce McFarlane, a young man of 28, who is “wanted” in that little bush township on a charge of stealing £4O from a woman named Elizabeth Annie Davies. The alleged theft took place over two years ago—in March, 1925, to be exact—and although it has taken that time to find him, McFarlane was at last arrested at Whangarei and brought to Auckland. He was charged in the Police Court this morning and remanded, at the request of Chief-Detective Cummings, till next Fridayfl
