FURTHER DELAY TO SHIPS
ADVERSE WEATHER Stormy weather continued at Auck r land yesterday, but was of a less boisterous nature than during the week-end. The showers were few and far between, and not very heavy when they did come. A strong wind blew from the south-west all day gnd increased in velocity towards evening. The Tofua, en route from Fiji to Auckland, encountered further heavy weather and sent out a radio message saying that she will not make port before 3 o’clock this afternoon. A heavy sea on the West Coast rendered the Manukau Bar unworkable and prevented the Rarawa from leaving for New Plymouth. Rough weather also prevented H.M.S. Veronica and H.M.S. Laburnum from coming out of dock.
To-day, however, there was an allround improvement, although heavy seas on the West Coast make the Manukau Bar still unworkable. Yesterday’s gale has abated and there are prospects of a further fine spell ensuing.
