TOURED AUSTRALIA

MASTERTONIAN RETURNS Mr. R. J. Young, well-known in Ma.=>terton musical circles, followed an American practice in Australia recently. He purchased a motor-car. toured 3,000 miles in it. and then sold it before departing for New Zealand. Mr. and Airs. Young, who arrived in Auckland to-day by the Ulimaroa from Sydney, were enthusiastic in their praise of Australia’s attractions for the tourist. Accompanied by friends, the New Zealanders motored through New South Wales and Victoria, and have returned convinced that the Commonwealth has much to offer the visitor. In all their 3,000 miles of motoring not once did they experience a puncture. Naturally, Air. Young, who for many years directed the Alasterton Amateur Operatic Society, was keenly interested in matters musical. Pie votes “Frasquita,” which had its premiere in New Zealand, the most successful show in Sydney just now. “Cradle Snatchers” was considered rather “over the odds.” New Zealanders. as a rule, he said, did not altogether appreciate that type of theatrical fare.
